Prime Real Estate!!

[Hadith]
Rasul Allah, sal Allah alayhi wa sallam, said, “Amongst the
beautiful (characteristics) of a person’s Islam is that he pays
no heed to that which does not concern him.”

[Lessons from this Hadith]
Your mind is PRIME real estate. If you had a piece of land
right beside the greatest world attraction, wouldn’t you open the
most amazing store on it?

Your brain and your life is more precious then that peice of
land. Only build on it that which concerns your success in this
life and the next.

For the next seven day, ask yourself this question daily, “Am I
using my time right now towards that which benefits me?”

There is another hadeeth, I read a while back and I have been meaning to talk about here but I just haven’t found the chance to do so yet…inshaAllah I will soon though

I miss waking up early for a fresh doese of hadeeth read to me by Sheikh Yasir Qadhi and Yaser Birjas…I really do…May Allah reward them..

Fiqh is Cool :)

So, I’m trying to frantically finish the Ilm Summit Fiqh assignment now (procrastination at its best!) and I came across these sayings that a person can say when they are performing Wudu’. I thought they were really cool mashaAllah and I’m hoping that, inshaAllah, I can remember them (at least in meaning if not word for word)…

InshaAllah I will translate them later (after I submit the assignment!)

This is from فقه العبادات على المذهب الحنفي by الحاجة نجاح الحلبي

آداب الوضوء

الآداب: جمع أدب وهو لغة: الخصلة الحميدة، وشرعاً ما فعله النبي صلى اللّه عليه وسلم مرة وتركه أخرى. وتسمى أيضاً مندوبات أو مستحبات أو تطوعاً

وحكمه: الثواب بفعله وعدم اللوم على تركه. وآداب الوضوء هي استقبال القبلة، لأنه أقرب إلى قبول الوضوء باعتباره عبادة، وقبول الدعاء فيه، الجلوس في مكان مرتفع تحرزاً من الغُسَالة، الجمع بين القلب واللسان في تحصيل النية، الدعاء بالمأثور عن النبي صلى اللّه عليه وسلم وعن أصحابه رضوان اللّه عليهم

فيقول عند المضمضة: اللّهم أعني على تلاوة القرآن وذكرك وشكرك وحسن عبادتك

وعند الاستنشاق: اللّهم أرِحْني رائحة الجنة ولا تُرِحْني رائحة النار

وعند غسل الوجه: اللّهم بيّض وجهي بنورك يوم تبيّض وجوه وتسودّ وجوه

وعند غسل اليد اليمنى: اللّهم أَعْطِني كتابي بيميني وحاسبني حساباً يسيراً 

وعند غسل اليد اليسرى: اللّهم لا تعطني كتابي بيساري ولا من وراء ظهري ولا تحاسبني حساباً عسيراً

وعند مسح الرأس: اللّهم أظلّني تحت ظل عرشك يوم لا ظل إلا ظلك ولا باقي إلا وجهك

وعند مسح الرقبة: اللّهم أعتق رقبتي من النار

ويقول عند غسل الرجل اليمنى: اللّهم ثبِّتْ قدمي على الصراط يوم تزلّ الأقدام

ويقول عند غسل الرجل اليسرى: اللّهم اجعل عملي مشكوراً وذنبي مغفوراً وتجارتي لن تبور

A Sweet Memory

Many people asked how it went…what it was all about…and if it was worth it…

All I do is smile in reply…and here’s why…

A speech I wrote for the end of Ilm Summit…”truly, it changed my life”..

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيمالسلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته …

As students of knowledge, it serves us a great reminder to reflect on what we are told by Allah azza wa jal in surat Al-Baqarah verse 32 when the angels said:

They replied: “Limitless art Thou in Thy glory! No knowledge have we save that which Thou hast imparted unto us. Verily, Thou alone art all-knowing, truly wise.”

(قَالُواْ سُبْحَانَكَ لاَ عِلْمَ لَنَا إِلاَّ مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ (2:32

I recall aimlessly reading my textbooks in a weak attempt to study for finals. My mind was racing with thoughts of Ilm Summit and my heart beat with fear at the mere thought of being denied entrance. Five months later, here I am Alhamdulillah, trying to grasp at some eloquent words in hope of doing some justice in recounting this one of a kind journey.

إن الحمد لله, نحمده و نستعينه و نستغفره … من يهده الله فلا مضل له, و من يضلل فلن تجد له وليا مرشدا

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem…

As I look forward to and anticipate the next few days (على أحر من الجمر) as they say in Arabic, I also look back at the days and hours left behind, and like anyone can imagine, I regret not using my time more wisely.

May Allah make it a cleansing journey for His sake only. May all the students gain utmost knowledge and benefit from this great opportunity. May Allah help us in conveying what we learn to the best of our abilities…May Allah bring benefit from our actions and put barakah in everything that we do…May everything we do and intend to do be for His sake…and may Allah accept our good deeds and forgive our shortcomings…

In Ayat Al-Kursi Allah says: (ولا يحيطون بشئ من علمه إلا بما شاء)…and so, I pray:

اللهم انفعني بما علمتني وعلمني ما ينفعني اللهم اني أسألك فهم النبيين وحفظ المرسلين المقربين اللهم اجعل لساني عاما بذكرك وقلبي بخشيتك انك على ما تشاء قدير وأنت حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل
Oh Allah! Make useful for me what you have taught me and teach me knowledge that will be useful to me. I ask you for the understanding of the prophets and the memory of the messengers and those nearest to you. Make my tongue full of your remembrance and my heart with consciousness of you. You do whatever you wish, and you are my availer, protector and best of aid
اللهم لا سهل إلا ما جعلته سهلا أنت تجعل الحزن إذا ما شئت سهلا
Oh Allah! Nothing is easy except what you have made easy. If you wish, you can make the difficult easy
