Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem,
Case 1:
Student 1: “Darn, who was it again?”
Student 2: “Man I don’t know, I didn’t catch that either!”
Case 2:
Sister A: “Ya know, that sahabi who was in..umm…that one battle where the Muslims won?”
Others around her: *confused* ???

After attending many community halaqas, taking Al-Maghrib classes and Ilm Summit, I was finally fed up with my weak memory skills. How is it that I keep forgetting the names of the sahabah? Why is it that I confuse sahabah with tabi’een? Why do I have to guess at the names of those who *should be* my role models?
What’s wrong with this picture? Can I really be a “sahabi-wana-be” without knowing their names and details inside out? If you know what I’m talking about, keep reading, you will appreciate this project inshaAllah!
Project: Sahabah 101 FlashCards ®
What is Sahabah 101?
A unique and one of a kind attempt at learning the names of the sahabah radiya Allahu anhum and committing this knowledge to memory. (I wanna know their names like I know the names of my siblings inshaAllah!)
Ok, but what is it?
*you don’t know what flash cards are and how they work?* (lol, just kidding!)
Basically, the idea is to create flash cards with the names of sahabah on one side and the main facts about them, what they are popular for, along with interesting facts about them on the back.
Cool, how can I help?
Marhaban, marhaban…
Here are the rules of the game at this point:
1. Reply to this post below…or email hiddensouls.sc@gmail.com showing interest..
2. Either pick the sahabah you would like to research about from the list below or bring forth your own who interest you..
3. Once you have shown interest, you will be sent further details on what kind of information to collect about the sahabah, sources you can use, etc..
Hmm, why should I do this though?
First off, I’m sure we all need those extra hasanat…and what’s a better way than spreading knowledge through a sadaqa jariyah inshaAllah?! Imagine how much ajer you will have collected years down the road when people have mastered the names and lives of sahabah because of a flashcard you participated in making! May Allah increase your scale of good deeds!!
Here is the still-growing list of sahabah radiya Allahu anhum ajma’een:
NOTE: working on these ~50 sahabah will be somewhat easy inshaAllah as each of them (when you click on it) directly links you to a very short biography of them!!

Also, we need a list of “Kids at the time of the Prophet peace be upon him” and “Women at the time of the Prophet peace be upon him”
Ok, I’m still not done with this, I’ll be back soon inshaAllah…till then, take care and remain steadfast inshaAllah…

Salaaaam
Je suis tres excitee
I’m excited InshaAllah!
Are you compiling the list of the Sahabis?
Ma’salaam
Mush Mush.
I think I would like to take part inshallah.
Sarah, I’m excited cuz you’re excited
I found this really sweet website that has just about everything we need!!
Including a really nice list of the most famous sahabah!
Alhamdulillah
Jasmin, honestly, who said you had an option to begin with lol :p ? It’s a good thing that it worked out nicely though without having to force you or anything…
***I accidently posted this under “about” then realized my mistake then copy-pasted it here…sorry!!
I’m also one of those people with no choice anyway
I’m really excited, and I liked your intro alot…you should put something like that on the back of the box so people will buy it….
By the way, this whole website is really pretty..
salaam yay! im soo excited count me in
Heeeyyy…I just thought of something…maybe we can do a “Torch Bearers” special too
We could get a list of the people studied with both Sheikhs (WB and SR may Allah protect them) and have a set of cards for that class!! This could be something students will want to invest in…It can even be used to raise funds!
Love the idea! Creative and unique. I was just saying to some people the other day that converts especially get so frustrated by all of the Arabic names when listening to a halaqa that in the end, they just give up and stop going.
This will definitely help! (insha Allah)
sooo……..can we start taking our sahabahs???
(i know i’m sooo late in posting…for some reason I just discovered this post)
YES!!
Please pick your sahabah …and let us know which ones you will be taking care of…inshaAllah I will send a mass informative email soon!!
Count me in.
I kinda just found this post and would love to help.
so when are we going to get about this project…can we pick our Sahabahs?
SOOOOOOOOON inshaAllah…VERY soon inshaAllah…
and yes…go ahead and pick all the ones you want
which sahabah haven’t been chosen yet? I don’t mind getting any one of the sahabah as they were all such outstanding people! Radiya Allahu 3anhumah jamee3an!
so .. has anyone really gotten started??
good question dania
I actually mentioned this to Sheikh Y.B. and he supported the idea (but in a bit of a different format)…we really need to show initiative and take action to get involved with the EmanRush Press projects…
bumpity bump.. let’s discuss this week InshaAllah
interest shown
time to get going with this project (I’m in!!)
Jazakum Allahu khairan everyone, waAllah I love your excitement and eagerness to start alhamdulillah…may Allah reward you all…
I have made this to be my summer project, inshaAllah…With school and “life” right now…I won’t be able to give it all I got…If someone wants to take lead, by all means, go ahead…but for now, I will personally give myself some time to concentrate on what is on my plate until summer inshaAllah
*bump*
Is this still your summer project or are you caught up with other things? I was really looking forward to this.
Are you still working on this?
*sigh*…I got sooo caught up this summer with everything…No, I’m not currently working on this project…I would love to see it come true though…
Can we revive this please
I can help out inshaAllah tell me what you think?

sorry for spamming and not writing in one comment

i would love to revive this so inshaAllah tell me what you think so we can get the hype back!
Revive it…take it away and fly with it
I’ll be your first customer inshaAllah!!!
Wow HS, from creator to….customer?
Way to fall down the social ladder
LOL LOL
The young ones are so motivated mashaAllah…it’s a joy to see them grow and prosper

Do you mind if i ‘Borrow’ your idea?
Of course not! Go right ahead! May it be a success inshaAllah!
Jazakallah khair!! I thought it might be a good idea to do this with family. Thanks again =)
After putting in considerable amount of time; turns out it’s been done already.

http://www.astrolabe.com/companion-cards.html
That shouldn’t be a reason to give up! There are over a billion muslims, who need all the help to learn about the sahaba. purchase the companion cards and do what they haven’t done! They have covered 30 companions, you could focus those companions not covered.
Remember – compete with each good deeds!
I think this is an excellent project and I can wait to use it with my students at school.
I also so impressed with learningroots. But has anyone purchased their work. Are they ahlu sunnna?
based on their works, I would assume they are ahlus-sunnah, they artwork doesn’t include facial features, their choice of companions is also ‘sunni’ – I don’t know if that answers your question.
