Turtle Shell

Sun,
be not this harsh,
expose not all,
lend some dark,
learn from the moon
to dim your rays,
if only,
if only for today.

Mirror,
be not clear,
hide this tear,
conceal that fear,
reflect not here,
dismiss what’s real,
do not lie,
but soften the truth.
Say there is time,
say there is youth.

Curious;
even a piece of glass,
haunts you along the way,
reflects and reminds,
painfully,
it rips you away.

May I not,
roar fierce like the lion,
tomorrow,
and even the day after,
but be the turtle,
in its hard protective shell,
if only,
if only for today.
